SOAPS

— Back to Sail 6

SOAPS

Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer, Share. A simple daily Bible engagement method: read a passage (Scripture), notice what stands out (Observation), decide how to obey it (Application), pray it back to God (Prayer), and tell someone else what you learned within 24–48 hours (Share). Training believers in SOAPS gives them a habit they can just as easily teach to the next person.

How to do this

  1. Scripture — read the passage slowly. Choose one to five chapters.
  2. Observation — what stands out? What does it say about God, or about people?
  3. Application — what will you obey? Be specific. Name a person, a day, an action.
  4. Prayer — pray the passage back to God in your own words.
  5. Share — tell someone what you learned within 24 to 48 hours. Write down who.
