07. Every Member Has a Part in the Mission
Extraordinary DNA That Multiplies · Part 07
What if every person around your table realized that someone in their life needs to hear about Jesus through them?
In the last article, we explored living as a spiritual family, serving one another, forgiving, sharing meals, praying, and carrying one another’s burdens. As we obey the stories we discover together, we learn to love like Jesus. That same love moves us toward people who have not yet come to know Him.
Every member of this spiritual family has a part in the mission.
Begin With What Jesus Has Done for You
In Mark 5, Jesus delivered a man who had lived among the tombs. When the man begged to go with Him, Jesus gave him an assignment:
“Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you.”
Mark 5:19, WEB
He had a story to tell and people to tell it to. So do you.
Who knows you well enough to notice how Jesus is changing your life? Who needs the hope, forgiveness, and mercy you have received? Your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers are people you can begin praying for and serving today.
Let the Story Lead to Action
Imagine your fellowship discussing this story. Someone says, “My brother knows what I used to be like. I have never told him why I am changing.” Another says, “My neighbor is going through a hard time. I could visit her and ask how I can pray.” A third says, “I am afraid to share my story. Could someone help me practice?”
Now the group has an opportunity to help each person obey. Take turns practicing a short testimony. Pray for the people they named. Help one another make a specific commitment: “This week, I will visit my brother and tell him what Jesus has done for me.”
At the next gathering, ask how it went. Celebrate obedience. Pray about difficulties. Help one another take the next step. This is how sharing Jesus becomes part of your fellowship’s life.
Everyone Can Participate
Paul wrote that God “gave to us the ministry of reconciliation” and called believers “ambassadors on behalf of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:18-20, WEB).
Around your table may be someone who speaks confidently and someone who barely says a word. Someone may have followed Jesus for decades; another may be taking their first steps. Help each person begin with what they know and put it into practice.
One can offer prayer. Another can share a testimony. Another can invite a friend to discover a Bible story together. As people respond, new opportunities open to reach their families and friends.
This prepares your spiritual family to help another household learn to love and obey Jesus too. A fellowship begins to multiply as its members carry what they are learning into their relationships.
This Week’s Step
Read Mark 5:1-20 together. Ask each person to name someone they can pray for, serve, or share their story with this week. Practice together. Make a specific commitment. Follow up at your next gathering.
Who needs to hear what Jesus has done for you, and when will you tell them?
