06. The Catalyst Behind the Screen
The Catalyst Behind the Screen
Article 6 | You Were Made for So Much More Than This
What if the screen you use to pass the time became a tool God uses to multiply disciples?
A phone. A computer. A kitchen table.
For many of us, those things are already part of everyday life. We use them to read the news, watch videos, and stay connected with family.
Have you considered what could happen if you used them to help someone follow Jesus?
For years, Christians have used media to connect with people searching for answers about God. Those same tools can also connect us with people ready to make disciples, and provide training and coaching as they begin.
Your living room can become a training room.
And your remaining years can help someone else begin a lifetime of fruitful ministry.
Someone needs what you can help them learn
Think about a believer who loves Jesus but has never learned how to share the gospel simply.
Or someone who wants to gather family and neighbors around Scripture but does not know where to begin.
Or a new leader who needs someone to listen, pray, and help them take the next step.
You could become that encouraging person.
You can learn a simple tool, practice it, and help someone else practice it. You can ask what happened when they tried. You can celebrate their obedience and help them work through difficulties.
Paul told Timothy:
“The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same things to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
2 Timothy 2:2, WEB
Notice where Paul’s instruction leads: people who can teach others also.
That is the purpose of the training. What we receive becomes something we pass on.
Begin with ten simple lessons
I teach ten Zúme discipleship lessons that help ordinary believers learn to share the gospel, make disciples, and train others to do the same.
They are free.
You can take them on your own, work through them with a few friends, or join me live on Zoom.
You will learn practical ways to pray, spend time in Scripture, share your testimony, explain the gospel, and help others discover and obey Jesus together.
Each lesson gives you something to put into practice.
Imagine inviting two friends to your kitchen table. You watch a lesson, discuss it, and practice together.
Then each of you takes a step during the week.
When you meet again, you ask: What happened? What did you learn? Who could you help do this too?
That is something you can begin right where you are.
This week, take the first step
Your assignment is simple:
Open the training page and take Lesson 1.
As you work through it, ask:
What will I put into practice?
Who could learn this with me?
Set a time to act on what you learn. Then invite someone to join you.
The person you help today may one day help a household you will never meet discover Jesus.
We were made for more.
Want to go further?
All ten Zúme discipleship lessons are on my site, free, with the video and the same teaching notes I use when I train leaders in person. Take them on your own, take them with a few friends, or join me live on Zoom and I will teach them to you face to face. When you finish, tell me and I will coach you personally.
