12. The Harvest Is Waiting for Laborers
From Church Attenders to Kingdom Laborers · Part 12
Matthew 9:36-38
Jesus looked at the crowds and saw something His disciples were in danger of missing.
He did not see interruptions.
He did not see hopeless people.
He did not see a harvest that was too difficult to reach.
He saw people who were distressed, scattered, and searching for a shepherd.
Then He said:
“The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest.”

The problem was not the harvest.
The problem was the shortage of laborers.
That is still the problem today.
There are people in our families, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and communities who are searching for hope.
There are people carrying pain they have never shared.
There are homes where no one has ever opened the Bible.
There are entire communities where people have never seen what it looks like to follow Jesus in everyday life.
The harvest is still plentiful.
But where are the laborers?
We often pray for people to come to our churches.
Jesus told us to pray for laborers who would go into the harvest.
We pray for revival, but are we willing to enter someone’s home?
We pray for the lost, but are we willing to build relationships with them?
We pray for disciples, but are we willing to make them?
We pray, “Lord, send someone.”
But what if Jesus is saying:
“I am sending you”?
A church can be filled with attenders while the harvest remains untouched.
People can listen to sermons, attend Bible studies, join worship services, and participate in church programs without ever helping another person follow Jesus.
Attendance is not the same as laboring.
Knowledge is not the same as obedience.
Concern for the lost is not the same as going to them.
Jesus did not call us merely to observe the harvest.
He called us to enter it.
You do not need a title.
You do not need a platform.
You do not need to know every answer.
You can begin with one person.
Pray for someone who is far from God.
Listen to that person’s story.
Share what Jesus has done in your life.
Tell a Bible story.
Invite that person to discover Jesus with you.
Then help that new disciple do the same for someone else.
That is how ordinary believers become laborers.
That is how disciples multiply.
That is how families, communities, and nations are reached.
The harvest is waiting.
The question is not whether people need Jesus.
The question is whether His disciples are willing to go.
Final Challenge
Will you remain an attender, or become one of the laborers Jesus told us to pray for?
Do not only pray for laborers.
Become an answer to that prayer.
