09. Find a Person of Peace and Reach a Household
Extraordinary DNA That Multiplies – Series
The next fellowship may begin with someone who welcomes you into their home. They offer you a chair. They tell you what is troubling their family. They welcome your prayer. Then they say, “You should meet my brother.”
Could God be opening a door?
In this series, we have been following a path: gather ordinary people, discover Jesus through His stories, practice what He teaches, live as an Acts 2 spiritual family, and commit to multiplication. Now we take that commitment into our relationships. Who is welcoming you, and who else might discover Jesus through that relationship?
Look for the welcome Jesus described
In Luke 10, Jesus sent His disciples into towns and homes. He instructed them to offer peace, receive hospitality, remain with receptive people, care for the sick, and announce that God’s Kingdom had come near. He told them: “Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give.”, Luke 10:7, WEB
They were to receive hospitality and build a relationship. As you pray, serve, and share Jesus, look for someone who:
Welcomes you: They make room for a relationship.
Receives the message: They listen with interest and are willing to explore what Jesus says.
Opens relationships: They introduce you to family, friends, or others who trust them.
These are helpful signs to notice as you follow Jesus’ instructions. A person does not need to understand everything, or already believe, to begin exploring. Their welcome gives you an opportunity to listen, love, and share.
One relationship can open a household
In Acts 16, the Lord opened Lydia’s heart to respond to Paul’s message. She and her household were baptized, and she welcomed the messengers into her home. Later, a jailer asked how he could be saved. Paul and Silas spoke God’s word to him and everyone in his house. He cared for their wounds, and he and his household were baptized. The message reached people connected through everyday relationships.
Imagine someone you meet saying, “Could you come back? My family needs to hear this too.” You may be standing at the beginning of another house-to-house fellowship.
Help them gather their people
Receive their hospitality. Learn their names. Listen to their concerns. Ask permission to pray. Share your story and the good news of Jesus. Invite a response without pressure.
Then make a simple invitation: “Would you enjoy exploring a few stories about Jesus with your family or friends? Who would you like to invite?”
Let them help choose the place and time. Their home, table, and relationships can provide a natural setting.
Begin with a simple 3/3rds Discovery Bible Study:
Look back: Care for one another and discuss what you practiced and shared.
Look up: Read a story about Jesus and discover what it teaches.
Look forward: Decide how you will obey and whom you will tell.
From the beginning, invite others to participate and take turns facilitating. You are helping this household learn to follow Jesus together. As faith and obedience grow, help them develop the same spiritual-family life and multiplying DNA your original fellowship is practicing.
Your assignment this week
Return to one receptive person. Ask: “Would you like to explore stories of Jesus with your family or a few friends?”
If they welcome the invitation, agree on a time and help them gather their people.
Continue meeting with your original spiritual family as you help this new group begin.
You do not need a crowd to take the next step. You need to notice an open door, and walk through it with love.
Who is welcoming you? Who else might hear about Jesus through that relationship?
Pray. Return. Listen. Share. Invite.
Ordinary people. Extraordinary movements.
