04. Your Mission Field Already Has Names

Tool: The List of 100
Many believers pray:
"Lord, send me somewhere."
But what if God has already sent you?
What if your mission field is not merely a distant country, an unreached village, or a future ministry opportunity?
What if your mission field already has names?
Names stored in your phone.
Names sitting around your dinner table.
Names living across the street.
Names working beside you.
Names belonging to people who already know you, trust you, and can see what Jesus is doing in your life.
Andrew Started With His Brother
After Andrew met Jesus, he did not begin by searching for a crowd.
He thought of one person he already knew.
"He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, 'We have found the Messiah!' … He brought him to Jesus."
John 1:41-42 WEB
Andrew could not have known how powerfully God would use Peter.
He simply brought someone he knew to Jesus.
Philip did the same thing. After Jesus called him, Philip found Nathanael and said:
"We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote: Jesus of Nazareth."

Philip did not have every answer. When Nathanael questioned him, Philip gave a simple invitation:
"Come and see."

Movements often begin this way, not with strangers, stages, or large events, but with ordinary disciples reaching the people they already know.
Jesus Sent a Restored Man Home
In Mark 5, Jesus delivered a man whose life had been completely controlled by evil spirits. When the man asked to travel with Jesus, Jesus gave him a different assignment:
"Go to your house, to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he had mercy on you."

Jesus sent him back to people who knew his past.
They had seen his brokenness. Now they would see his transformation.
His history with them did not disqualify him. It made his testimony personal and undeniable.
Your relationships can become bridges for the gospel too.
We sometimes imagine that obeying the Great Commission requires going somewhere new.
But obedience often begins by seeing the people already around us differently.
Your family is not merely your family.
Your neighbors are not merely your neighbors.
Your coworkers are not merely your coworkers.
Your friends are not merely your friends.
They are people God loves, and people He may want to reach through you.
What Is the List of 100?
That is why one of the simplest disciple-making tools is called the List of 100.
The List of 100 helps you identify the people God has already placed within your circle of influence.
Take a sheet of paper and begin writing names from every part of your life:
Family members
Friends
Neighbors
Coworkers
Former classmates
Church acquaintances
Business contacts
People you see regularly
People from your past
People stored in your phone
People you interact with online
People who are spiritually curious
People who are far from God
Do not decide too quickly who is interested or who is ready.
Your responsibility is not to predict how someone will respond.
Your responsibility is to pray, listen, love, share, and obey.
God is already working in places you cannot see.
Once you have written your list, choose five names each day.
Pray specifically for them:
"Father, draw this person to Jesus."
"Open a door for a spiritual conversation."
"Show me how I can serve them."
"Give me courage to share what You have done in my life."
"Help me recognize where You are already working."
Then pay attention.
A name may come strongly to your mind.
Someone may contact you unexpectedly.
A conversation may open naturally.
A person may share a struggle, ask for prayer, or begin asking spiritual questions.
Do not dismiss those moments. They may be answers to your prayers.
Sometimes we are willing to travel across the world to speak about Jesus but remain silent with the people living across the street.
We pray for God to give us a ministry while overlooking the relationships He has already entrusted to us.
The Great Commission does not begin when you board an airplane.
It begins when you look at the people around you with the eyes of Jesus.
Your mission field already has faces.
Your mission field already has stories.
Your mission field already has names.
Are you asking God to send you somewhere while overlooking the people He has already placed around you?
Write the names of everyone you know.
Do not stop after ten or twenty. Work toward a List of 100.
Then choose five people and begin praying for them every day.
Ask God to show you whom to contact, whom to serve, whom to share your testimony with, and whom to invite to discover Jesus with you.
Do not merely write the names.
Begin praying.
Begin listening.
Begin obeying.
One of those names may become the beginning of a multiplying movement.
